Past
Legends and myths paint goblins as hideous creatures, and once upon a time this was completely true. However, Goblins were a species that enjoyed invading others and enslaving their people. Those people whom they tended to enjoy invading the most were renown for their beauty, and goblin masters had the habit of reproducing with their slaves. These children were born with traits from both their parents---including more often than not the gorgeous appearances of those whom had been enslaved. These beautiful offsprings found it difficult--if not impossible--to rise within goblin society. Due to their good looks, they were rarely viewed as anything more than slaves and it was near impossible for a slave to gain freedom. However, these beautiful goblins would not remain the lowest member of goblin society. They decided to rise up against their oppressors. Those at the top believed this 'revolt' wouldn't go far. They thought they could crush it with little or no effort, but they were mistaken.
Try as they might they couldn't keep this revolt from turning into outright war that they ended up losing. Goblin society changed. It became a place of a rigid caste system where it became even more difficult for one to rise in status. The beautiful goblins took the upper castes while those grotesque ones filled the roles of the lower castes. Strict rules developed on how each caste interacted with each other, and it was because of these rules that those outside goblin society still believe their entire people to be ugly in appearance. They regard the outsiders as the lowest caste---the outlaws and unwanted--and members of that caste are not allowed to look upon those of the higher castes unless special---next to impossible--conditions are met. However, not everyone followed these rules and Mikhail was one of them.
He was born into the noble caste. More importantly, he was the crown prince. His entire childhood was filled with his parents trying to shape him into becoming a king just like his father, but to their frustration those lessons they flung upon him seemed to go upon deaf ears. He didn't behave like a member of the noble caste---let alone the crown prince. He mingled with all the caste and treated them like they were all equals. Worse yet, he would go into the outside world and interact with them in the same manner that he did everyone else. His parents eventually decided that it was just a phase, and the more they tried to stop it the more determined he was to keep it up. They decided that if they ignored it that eventually he would grow tired and start behaving in a manner more suitable for someone of his status. They quickly learned how mistaken they were.
Mikhail fell in love with a human. He met her during one of his outings and decided to bring her back home with him. Such a thing was not unheard of--in fact it was quite common. Goblins have always enjoyed collecting beautiful specimen of other species. In fact, they had invaded other people just to do this. His parents thought nothing of him bringing this human home. Truth be told, they were actually overjoyed by it. They thought this meant he was done with that rebellious phase he seemed to be in, at least until they realized their son's true feelings for the human. They were horrified by this, and their horror increased when Mikhail's desire to marry her became clear. They did everything within their power to change his mind--including parading more suitable matches before him. None of it worked, and it soon became clear that there was only one thing to do.
They had to kill the human. They knew Mikhail would not be happy with them, but they believed that once everything was said and done that he would be grateful to them. They couldn't have been more wrong. He was furious over what they had done. His rage burned with such intensity that they thought he was going to level their entire empire to the ground, but he ended up doing something much worse. He denounced his claim to the throne. He denounced goblin society, and by doing this he was now considered a member of the lowest caste--the outsiders. Worse for his parents, they could not cover it up. They were unable to convince the people that he had died. He had made his announcement in such a public fashion that any amount of covering it up would not make it disappear.
Mikhail did not care. Whatever fate was in store for them or the goblin kingdom was none of his concern. He went out into the world and started his new life. Many years passed and he eventually joined a different empire--an underground one filled with drugs and other illegal activities. He quickly rose in the ranks until he filled a position that put him right underneath the czar--the leader of this entire empire. Time moved on until he found the reincarnation of the human his parents had killed, but she was with a man named Defrim. Mikhail and Defrim hold a position right underneath the czar himself, and they were rivals in nearly every sense of the world. They often fought over lovers. It was not a type of fight that others might be accustom to. It was rarely ever physical. They would use other tricks to steal lovers from each others, and it was a game that Mikhail enjoyed very much.
However, things with Daniella was different--as he came to learn was the name of the girl whom he believed to be his beloved reincarnation. He had no desire of playing the game with her. More importantly, he wanted to keep her close at hand--believing that was the best method in protecting her. Luck was on his side because Defrim didn't tell her the truth of his role within the underground empire. He told her that he was nothing more than a lowly drug dealer. It was this lie that ended up working perfectly in Mikhail's favor. He told Daniella that if she didn't walk away from Defrim forever and become his lover that he would kill Defrim. Daniella not knowing that Defrim had lied to her submitted to Mikhail's lies. Yet, it was easy to see how much walking away from Defrim hurt. Mikhail figured that this pain would go away. He believed that within time she would realize that she was suppose to be with him. They were soulmates after all.
It was not long after he convinced her to walk away from Defrim that she came to discover that she was pregnant with his child. She begged Mikhail to let her tell Defrim that he had a child, but he refused. He didn't arrange it so Defrim wouldn't attempt to steal Daniella back just to completely undo it with one conversation. Besides, her child was his--regardless of whose seed this baby might have sprung from. It became crystal clear he believed this. He treated her daughter like his own. Truth be told, he treated her entire family like they were own. Which was only her younger sister, but details. Through, Roselyn--as Daniella's sister was named---was not pleased with Mikhail. A fact she made crystal clear. Yet, in spite this she is often found hanging out at Mikhail's estate.
Mostly, it was to spend time with Mikhail's ward--a young woman by the name of Nilyne whose abduction by a serial killer dubbed The God Killer had left her insane. Mikhail had decided to take care of Nilyne as a request from her brother---Aleksis whom was a drug dealer that works for Mikhail and more importantly one of his friends. Through, it was his affections towards Nilyne which played a large role in him agreeing to take her into his care. He had seen the type of person Nilyne had been before her time with The God Killer, and even if she could never return to whom she had been he could make sure she was never swept into the cracks of some half baked asylum. He knew her brother would never allow her to be placed inside such a place, but he also knew that Aleksis believed that he couldn't provide her the care that she needed. Moreover, Aleksis believed that he would only cause Nilyne to get worse.

Present
Time moved on, and the five of them have fallen into something of a family. Some part of him know if given a choice that Daniella and Roselyn would walk away from this family, but until they do he will be content with it. He had accepted the possibility that Nilyne might never get better again, but he believes that if she remains locked within her own mind that it will have more to do with her stubbornness than her broken mind. He realizes that there is those whom will disagree with this. There are those whom will claim that isn't how mental illness work--that you cannot just will yourself better. However, he knows Nilyne and he knows that if anyone can have enough determination to do something it would be her.
His suspensions were prove true when The God Killer returned. He turned out to be an ancient deity by the name of Aias, and he decided to bring Aleksis into his fold. This does not please Nilyne, and she decided that she needs to stop him. He doesn't know that if once everything is said and done if she will return to how she been. He hopes that if she stays outside her own head long enough that she will come to see that whatever fear caused her to believe that retreating into her own mind was the best course of action was silly. However, that wasn't the most shocking thing to happen. The thing that surprised him the most was Roselyn speaking of a dream that involves his past. He doesn't know exactly what this means, but suspects the answers.
